Must-Have Camping Essentials

Never forget toilet paper again.

Going camping soon, and need to make sure you have everything in order so you can have the best trip possible? Keep reading on!

This is part 1 of a 2 post camping series, so make sure you come back to check out the 2nd post on best places to go camping!

1. Firewood

If you have a fire pit at your campsite or wherever you choose to camp, make sure you bring firewood! If staying at a campsite, firewood is usually more expensive at the campground than if you bring it from home, so keep that in mind, although some campgrounds have rules against bringing outside firewood.

2. Fire Starter

Along with firewood, fire starter is also a good thing to have, as it allows you to start up your fire much more quickly (and if you’re like my boyfriend and I, we tend to have trouble with this, lol).

3. Campfire Grill

My boyfriend bought one of these from Walmart, and it is an awesome thing to have when camping! I absolutely recommend it. It allows you to cook anything in a pot, pan, skillet, etc. over a fire. There are countless “campfire recipes” you can find online, so you don’t have to compromise on dining even when you’re sleeping in the great outdoors. If you check out my Pinterest page here, I have a board where I’ve saved my favorite campfire recipes so be sure to check that out and give me a follow!

4. Sticks for Roasting Smores (or Wienies)

What’s the point of a campfire without a good smore or hot dog in hand? You can find metal ones at most stores, or use actual sticks from good ole’ nature and they’ll work just as good.

5. Cooler

You’ll need a cooler for drinks, snacks, and ingredients to make any yummy campfire recipes you plan on trying with your campfire grill 🙂

6. Portable Phone Charger/Car Charger

Your phone needs to be charged, so I recommend BOTH of these items. You’ll want to have the car charger to keep you phone charged up while you’re out and about exploring during the day, and when you’re in the tent and at the campsite, the portable charger can be used.

7. Speaker

A speaker is a must when camping, so you can listen to all your favorite tunes. Just make sure to be respectful of any neighbors you have, and any “quiet time” hours your campground may have, if staying at a campground.

8. Portable DVD Player

Okay, I know what you’re thinking. “Why wouldn’t I just download movies and TV shows on my phone, Cheyenne?” Well, watching your favorite movies on a a portable DVD player while cozied up in a tent just gives you a different type of feeling a phone can’t. It helps you feel less connected from the outside world. I highly recommend it!

9. Battery Powered Light

Emphasis on battery powered, as you won’t have a plug in available (hey we all forget) Anyways, a tent is dark, so having lights is definitely a plus.

10. Battery Powered Fan

Again, emphasis on the battery powered. Having a fan when camping is important, especially when camping in the warmer months. The inside of a tent can get extremely hot and tight feeling, so having a fan will cool you down and help you feel more relaxed.

11. First Aid Kit

Hey, accidents happen, especially if you’re clumsy and accident prone like me. It’s always better to be safe than sorry, so be sure to bring a first aid kit! You can find a small one at Walmart for less than 10 bucks.

12. Bug Spray

Mosquitoes LOVE me, and I just so happen to also be allergic to them and swell up everytime I get bit. While you may not be like me, you can still get bit by other pesky critters (such as ticks) so bringing bug spray when you go camping is important regardless.

13. Hand Soap/Hand Sanitizer

I like to bring both, and wash my hands by pouring bottles of water on them and then rubbing in soap, however if you prefer to just bring hand sanitizer that can work as well. Keep in mind, though, if you wear contacts, you WILL need to wash your hands before putting in and taking out your contacts and not just bring hand sanitizer! If you stay at a campsite, sinks and soap may be available for you to use, so be sure to check before you go camping.

14. Water Bottles

Like stated before, water bottles can be used while camping for washing hands, but also for drinking, brushing teeth, washing your face, cleaning dirty dishes, washing your hair (can be difficult but hey, it can be done), shaving your legs (I’ve done it before-it takes dedication), anything! Definitely a must.

15. Toilet Paper

Yes, toilet paper is something you probably need to have while camping, even if you’re staying at a campground. Some campsites are far away from the bathrooms, so you may decide last minute the best option is to just use nature’s backyard, and when that happens, it’s best to be prepared.

16. Gazebo

If you have one, these are perfect for setting up and sitting under to keep cool, listen to music, and maybe play a game or two.

17. Lawn Chairs

Bring these chairs to sit in around the fire or under the gazebo you brought!

18. Board Games or Card Games

Who doesn’t love a good game, especially while camping? Bring your favorites and challenge your camp-mates to a little competition.

19. Mattress Pad

Sometimes, when setting up a tent you find that the hard ground does NOT make a nice surface to lay on, even with plenty of sheets. This is where having a mattress pad comes in handy. With one of these in the tent, and the sheets on top, it makes laying on the ground a liiittle less rocky.

20. Sheets

As mentioned before, you cant forget sheets! The more, the better.

21. Tent (of course)

The MOST important part of a camping trip, the tent. Do NOT forget this part, or your trip may not go very well. Make sure you have your tent stakes and all the necessary materials needed to set the tent up as well.

I hope this post was very informative for you, and don’t forget to keep an eye out for part 2 of my camping series coming out very soon 😉 Leave me a comment below if you plan to go camping soon and where you’re going!

Things I Currently LOVE and Recommend to You!

Today’s post brings you guys a round up of some of my current favs, with links as well so you can get your hands on them also! Hope you enjoy, and as always, like this post, leave a comment, and follow for more content 🙂

1. “Fear Not” by Max Lucado

As a Christian, I am always trying to grow closer to God, and this book provides just that at a time I needed it most! It helps me to understand some things that are hard to understand, and breaks it all down by assuring the reader that God’s got you, there is no reason to have fear! If you are religious or want to grow closer to God, I recommend this book! You can find it here on Amazon.

2. Ice Roller

This thing is AMAZING-I discovered it on someone’s Instagram story (I can’t remember whose, I wish I could though!) and looked it up for myself on Amazon and saw it helps with not only migraines (which I suffer from greatly), but overall pain relief, eye puffiness, and many other things! I love using it as a refresher in the mornings. I leave it in the freezer and just take it out when I want to use it. You can find it here. As you can see, many others like it too!

3. “Canva” for design

Okay, so when I started my blog, I already heard about Canva and how awesome it was, and when I tried it for myself I could see why it was so hyped up! Canva basically lets you design Instagram posts, Pinterest pins, logos, flyers, Youtube thumbnails, you name it. It is free to use, with upgraded options that cost money. The free version however is completely awesome on its own in my opinion! If you are a blogger, or use design in any aspect in your craft, you should give it a try.

4. Planners

Okay, but how cute is this planner I recently bought??!

Especially the feeling of getting a new planner and writing in it the first time. Having a planner keeps me organized and at least makes me FEEL like I have my life together. I recommend it for anyone in school, a busy work schedule, bloggers, etc.

5. Journaling/Writing Things Out

Similar to having a planner, keeping a journal is so satisfying to me! It helps me keep all my ideas together, and as a new blogger it was much needed. Journaling is something I recommend to absolutely anyone, not just to keep organized but because it helps to let inner thoughts and emotions out onto a page that may be hard to express. There are many different journaling prompts on Pinterest to get you started!

6. Lighted Mirror

This mirror has become a staple for me! Before I had this one, I used a plug in makeup mirror that worked fine but wasn’t as portable or brightly lit as this one is. This mirror (find it here on Amazon, btw) has different light settings, a touchscreen, a battery option (I like using this so it’s more portable) and a plug in option, and it’s lightweight. Couldn’t ask for more!

7. Legal Policies Bundle

I know I’ve talked about this before, but this is the bundle I purchased and I totally recommend it to anyone starting out with a blog/small business/any website needing the right legal policies! With this bundle (and $40 off?? Yes please!!) you get all 3 of the necessary legal policies you need plus extras to get started and give you the peace of mind to put your focus on other aspects of your hustle!

8. “The Ordinary” Skin Care Line

I have been using their products for a couple years now, and as I have been incorporating them into my skin care routine, I have been seeing results! The 3 I am currently using are:  Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% 30ml (nighttime), Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 30ml (in the morning), and AHA 30% + BHA 2% peeling solution (use as a face mask twice a week AT MOST). These 3, along with not wearing makeup as much, have made my skin clear up and start to look the best it has in a while! Your skin definitely needs to be loved, and with The Ordinary’s highly rated products, you are bound to find something to suit your skin type.

Financial Tips to Follow For Financial Freedom 😍

Disclaimer: I am NOT a financial expert or advisor, however these are tips I feel are useful, so use as you feel appropriate! This post also contains referral links, in which I will receive a commission for if you sign up using my link. However, this is of no additional cost to you.

You want it, so why not go after it?? Follow these tips to get on the right track financially and start saving up for your goals NOW rather than later.

1. Put Back Money From Every Paycheck (and DO. NOT. TOUCH!!)

Have a set amount or percentage of your paycheck put up into your savings account. This can usually be done automatically if you choose to do so. Either way, make sure you stick to it and do not touch the money unless it’s for what you’re saving it for!

2. Have Envelopes for Certain Things, Such as Bills, Out to Eat, Savings, Etc.

If you have envelopes set aside and earmarked for certain things, it is easier to keep this money set aside for this and not delve into it. Seeing your money pile up for things you have planned for yourself is not only exciting, but motivates you to want to save more!

3. Have Clear Goals in Mind-Invest in Yourself!!

Know what you want, when you want it, and how you want it. Don’t be afraid to invest in yourself! It helps to write it down to hold yourself accountable.

4. Pay Bills on Time to Avoid Any Late Fees

One way to do this if you tend to forget is to set up autopay, so you don’t even have to remember when exactly your payment is due by. Additionally, if your payment is reported to a credit bureau, it can help your credit score as well if you pay them on time, so it’s a win win situation.

5. Use the “Avalanche” or “Snowball” Method of Paying Off Debts

These two methods are HIGHLY recommended in order to pay off debt as quickly and efficiently as possible-here’s what they are:

“Avalanche” Method means to focus on the debt payment with the highest interest rate first (putting as much as you can towards that) while putting the minimum payment possible towards the other debts you have. This method saves more money in the long run.

“Snowball” Method means to focus on the debt payment with the lowest payment (putting as much as you can towards that) while putting the minimum payment possible towards the other debts you have. This method is best for those who need to see wins more quickly in their debt tackling process.

6. Once Again, Declutter and Get Rid of Anything Not Needed!

This is a great way to get some extra cash in your hands. Go through clothes, furniture, storage rooms, etc. and list unwanted goods on apps such as Mercari or Poshmark, or take to thrift stores.

7. If You Have to Go Into Debt For Something, Rethink It. (Read That Again)

Now, this DOES NOT go for things such as a college education, or a house. Because I don’t know about you, but I cannot afford these things with cash straight out and can’t see myself being able to in the near future. (however, I would love to be proved wrong!)

These are usually called “good debts”, because they provide you with something that has the potential to increase your net worth, ex. an education provides the knowledge for life in general and for a future career, and a house provides memories and simply living in that house until you pay it off while taking good care of it, and then selling it for a profit.

“Bad debt”, on the other hand, depreciates and if you take a loan out on these things when you don’t need to (or don’t even need it period), you might be spending way more on it than it’s even worth. A good example is a car, which depreciates right when you drive it off the lot. Another example is credit cards. The interest rates used on these are extreme, and should be avoided when possible. AKA don’t go into debt for something you really don’t need, or for something you can pay for straight out! That’s why saving money is important, so you can avoid these bad debts!

8. Use Cash Back Apps Like Rakuten and Ibotta

I am fairly new to these apps, but I love them already! Use them to scan barcodes and for your online shopping you already do, and EARN CASH BACK. How does that sound??

Use my referral link here to sign up for Ibotta and get amazing cash back deals (plus $5 for redeeming your first offer within 14 days of registering!!)

Things to Do During Self Quarantine

Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links, in which I will receive a commission for if you purchase using my link. However, this is of no additional cost to you.

We’re all bored, and we just want to go out into the world again and feel normal. But, until the “new normal” is upon us, here are some things you can do to keep your sanity and still have fun this summer.

1. Write in a journal

This may be a cliché thing to tell you to do, but it really helps to get all your thoughts out into the open and help you feel more relaxed!

2. Take a hike…literally

Go see nature! Nothing is stopping you from going outside. As long as you wear a mask and keep your distance from others, you’re totally fine to do so. Personally, going on walks and seeing nature really helps me to clear my mind and get me in the right headspace.

3. Sip and Paint

A “sip and paint” is a fun experience where you, well, sip and paint. Grab your best paint set (this one on Amazon will definitely do the trick) and a drink of your choice (if you’re under 21, you better reach for the non-alcoholic beverages!) and get to painting. These sip and paint sessions usually are done over a Zoom session with friends, however you can also watch videos on Youtube and follow along as well and have JUST as much fun.

4. Declutter Your Space

Do you really need that shirt you haven’t worn in 4 years? Didn’t think so. Decluttering your space not only frees up your living space, but can also make you a few extra bucks as well.

Decluttering your space not only means getting rid of that shirt you no longer wear or that dresser that you don’t need, it means your mental headspace as well. How are you REALLY feeling? Check in with yourself, and if there is anything or anyone in your space that shouldn’t be there, maybe it’s time to reevaluate.

5. Take a Day Trip Somewhere You’ve Never Been

As long as you take the proper precautions, taking a small day trip somewhere you’ve never been to is a perfect thing to do. Seeing new scenery, trying new things, and just being away from routine can be exactly what you need.

6. Discover new music

Who doesn’t love discovering a new favorite song or artist?? No better time to make the perfect playlist than now. (Pro tip: Make playlists for your loved ones, it’s a great sentiment.)

7. Take up Blogging

(says the blogger…) But seriously, if you have a passion and can write about it, do it! It doesn’t even have to be specific. My “niche” is travel, lifestyle, and what I call “tips and recommendations”, which is kind of general compared to some other bloggers. However, I make it work and deliver the best content I can! As long as you are passionate about it, you should go for it. Even if you don’t feel like you can write a blog, reading blogs can be a great way to pass the time and gain some knowledge.

8. Take Some Online Classes, or Just Look Up Information About Something You Don’t Know

Okay, you might not want to spend your summer/free time learning, but with everything going on currently, why not take some time to learn something and expand your knowledge? You’re never too young or old to learn, so pick up the book or computer and gain some knowledge, because that is something always valuable to have!

9. KEEP YOUR HEAD UP!!

Things will be okay, even if they really, really don’t seem like it. We’re all going through tough situations and unprecedented times, but we will get through it one day at a time. You are a strong individual, and don’t be afraid to lean on trusted loved ones when you need it, and be there for your loved ones as well!

Thank you guys for reading, let’s talk soon 😉 Be sure to like this and follow me for more content!

Places You MUST SEE in Kentucky

Hey all! As you may not know, I am a Kentucky native. And while I have not been everywhere in Kentucky, I have seen a good portion of it. If you haven’t visited this state of ours yet, I recommend it! Even if you have, you should still check out this list I have compiled and (when safe) start checking off your bucket list.

  1. Mammoth Cave

Located in Cave City, KY, near Bowling Green, this long cave allows visitors to take different types of tours inside. There is a lot of history to learn while walking through this (chilly) cave, and many cool rock formations to look at! If in Kentucky, this is a must see. Just make sure to book your tickets in advance….unlike we did.

And while there, why not check out Mammoth Cave Adventures, which houses ziplining tours, horseback riding, and more?

2. Cumberland Falls

Located in Corbin, KY in the Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, this waterfall is not only gorgeous, but it is home to a phenomenon-if you time your visit JUST right, when there is a full moon and a clear sky, you can see a moonbow-which is a rainbow reflected in the water. This is one of the only locations in the WORLD where a moonbow can occur! Crazy right? You can look here to get an idea of when the moonbow might occur.

3. The Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass

I’ve never actually been here, but I wanted to include some shopping on the list. And this looks like a pretty good one. Who doesn’t love a good outlet mall??

4. Red River Gorge

LOVE this place. I went camping here with my boyfriend, and we explored and did a hike. It has beautiful rock formations and a scene that is unbeatable. We rode a sky lift to the top of the Natural Bridge, which is a sandstone “bridge” (no handrails!!) that offers more amazing views.

5. National Corvette Museum

This place is located in Bowling Green, KY, which is actually where Corvettes are produced! If you are a self-proclaimed car expert or not, this museum is one of a kind, and if you are in the area, is worth checking out.

6. Kentucky Kingdom

Located in Louisville, KY, this amusement park is just the exciting times you need to get you out of the house! It has a new coaster, “The Kentucky Flyer”, and a water park as well, “Hurricane Bay”. For more information on this park, visit the website here.

7. Waverly Hills Sanatorium

Are you brave? Okay, good, because this one is for the bravest of souls. Waverly Hills Sanatorium is also located in Louisville, Kentucky, and is a former tuberculosis hospital that is now abandoned and said to be haunted. You can take a tour of the place during any season, and during the Halloween season, it houses a haunted house.

8. Keeneland

Ready to place your bets? This is a horse racing facility located in Lexington, KY, and is well known by many. When you think of Lexington, you probably think of horse racing, as it is known as the “horse capital of the world”, and this is the hub of it all.

9. Churchill Downs

Another great horse racing facility located in Kentucky is located in Louisville, Kentucky. This is another big hub for horse racing known by many, and is definitely worth checking out.

10. Rough River

Located in Falls of Rough, KY, this river is gorgeous. If you have a boat (or are lucky enough to know someone who does), it is easily a day well spent of your summer to be out on the water. If not, though, no worries! There is still plenty to do. Camping, renting a boat, kayak, canoe, you name it. There are also little beach areas to get in the water.

11. Lake Barkley

This is another place to go is you’re looking to get out on the water. Beautiful lake to go boating on, swimming or fishing in, or enjoy some hiking, and at the end of the day, come back to a nice campground or the state resort park to unwind.

12. Big Four Bridge (at night)

Last on the list is Louisville’s Big Four Bridge, which is lit up beautifully at night. Pedestrians can walk across this bridge and see the view of Louisville. Afterwards, walk the riverfront and do some shopping and dining in the town!

There are many things to do in Kentucky, and I hope this list helped you plan your next trip here 🙂

Must-Haves For Dorm Rooms and Small Apartments

Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links, in which I will receive a commission for if you purchase using my link. However, this is of no additional cost to you.

Just in time for the start of the semester!

Dorm rooms are notorious for not being big enough-and this year, with everything else going on, the LAST thing you want to worry about is “Do I have everything I need?” Don’t worry, I have compiled a list of things you will need to kick off the year right, or maybe to just make your small apartment feel a bit more cozy.

  1. Mini Fridge

This is a great thing to have in a small space, because it provides you a place to store your beverages and cold products without having to have a full refrigerator take up all your space.

2. Roku Stick

Where would I be without my Roku?? HIGHLY recommend. You can get one here on Amazon for less than 40 bucks, and it lets you access more TV and movies than you know what to do with. This will save you money on cable as well.

3. Shower Shoes

This one is for my dorm room folks out there. Shower shoes are a MUST. Trust me. You do not want to touch that shared shower floor with your bare feet.

4. Storage Containers

Storage containers really help you stay organized and put together, and under the bed organizers help save space when space is limited. Additionally, over the door organizers do the same, and are perfect for shoes, bathroom, and cleaning products.

Going along the same lines is storage containers for food, or Tupperware containers. This is helpful in college because you can bring back food from the dining hall to eat for later, and if you aren’t in college, using these containers can help you save money by making your own food more often to bring to work/school, and eating out less often!

5. A small coffee maker

Forget going to Starbucks every day-get a coffee maker! Save time and money. This Keurig is amazing and you won’t be able to taste a difference, especially with K Cups like “Donut Shop” and…wait for it…..Starbucks. You’re welcome.

6. Cleaning Supplies

Even if it WASN’T CoronaVirus season, you still need to stay clean. Disinfectant wipes, a Swiffer, etc. Just your basics to get you through.

7. FELT. HANGERS.

Amazing. Saves space and looks sleek as well. Get a 30 pack right here on Amazon for 16.99.

8. Laundry Hamper

While living in a dorm room, you have to take your clothes to the laundry room to be washed. So invest in a good laundry hamper while in college! Also, pro tip, don’t let your clothes pile up too high before you need to do laundry again, or you’ll be toting it alllllll down to the laundry room to be washed and regretting every decision.

9. Small Trash Can

Pretty self explanatory. You’re gonna need it, and it can be one of those things you forget to buy.

10. Extended Phone Charger

Great investment, especially when you’re lying in bed and need to charge your phone, but the plug in is just a liiiiiiittle too far away to reach. Amazon has a 3 pack of 10 ft iPhone chargers for less than 10 bucks, which is a STEAL.

11. Microwave

A microwave is a great thing to have, whether you’re just heating up leftovers from the dining hall or making a TV dinner. Plus, they don’t take up too much space.

12. Storage Ottoman

When I think of these, I think of it being more so for an apartment than a dorm room, but either way, it is worth the money in my opinion. Not only does it store whatever you want inside, but it also doubles as a chair if need be. Amazon has this comfy looking one for less than $25 bucks.

13. Futon Sofa Bed

Again, this is mainly for my apartment folks out there, because in a dorm beds are already set up, buuuuuut if you’re in a small apartment/running low on money, a futon sofa bed may be for you. Is it just me or are these actually cool?? A bed that is also a couch?? Anyways, you can find some pretty cozy looking options here and here if interested.

14. The warmest, coziest robe you can find

In a dorm room, when you go to take a shower, the walk back to your room may be cold, and quite frankly, you may not want to immediately put your PJ’s on. Or, maybe it’s SO cold you need that extra layer of warmth. Whatever the reason, robes are always a good thing to have, and can make your bad days just a little better.

This by NO means is a complete list. There are many other things you need to start your semester of college, as well as make your small apartment feel more “home-y”. Remember to let some light into your space to make it feel larger and more relaxed, put on some of your favorite music, and surround yourself with good people, because those are must haves as well 🙂

Talk to you guys next time!

How to Make Sure Your Blog is Legal! (This is a Steal!)

Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links, in which I will receive a commission for if you purchase using my link. However, this is of no additional cost to you.

It may only be my first day on the job (aka blogging), but I have already learned some valuable tips-such as investing in yourself and your craft are SUPER important, even if (like me) you are hesitant to shell out any extra money.

When it came to blogging and legal documents, I was clueless, and was very tempted to use the free templates online, at least until I started making money from blogging and could rationalize spending so much for these policies However, afraid I would get sued or leave something too important out, I shelled out the money and started my blog.

But if you’re like me, and want to take those first steps into the blog world (good for you, and welcome!), you need to invest in these documents and protect yourself! Luckily for myself and many others, a lawyer and blogger named Amira (A Self Guru blog) has created legal templates and bundles that are wayyyyy cheaper than going to a lawyer, and much more protective than the free templates you see online. By using this link you can get all 3 legal documents your blog or website must have for $197, AND for a limited time you can get $40 off! It may seem like a lot to some people (like me), but I know this investment in my blog will be worth it and it will be for you too.

I can’t wait to see you all succeed in your journey, and let me know what you think!
